Epilepsy Foundation 2014 Annual Report

Epilepsy Foundation 2014 Annual Report

The Epilepsy Foundation is a national non-profit that has led the fight against seizures since 1968. Its mission is to stop seizures and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), find a cure, and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy through efforts including education, advocacy, and research to accelerate ideas into therapies.

When developing its 2014 Annual Report, the Foundation wanted to highlight the powerful stories of survivors and the life-changing nature of its programs on those who have been affected by epilepsy. The Foundation’s desire was to present the typical annual report information in a much more compelling format—focusing on the deep personal impact of its initiatives on people’s lives.

The theme “A Story of Innovation” was chosen for the report, as it encompassed the innovative technologies, community services, consumer and medical education, advances in new therapies research and treatment, public awareness, and advocacy on behalf of those impacted by epilepsy.

The design, layout, and imagery of the report are focused on telling these personal stories. The cover image was chosen to reflect innovation and the “superheroes” in the fight against epilepsy. The superheroes are not only the survivors, but the volunteers and corporate/foundation sponsors who make the Foundation’s efforts possible. The ultimate goal was to send a powerful message to partners to show how much their support makes a difference, to bring awareness to the general public about the Foundation’s efforts, and to earn the gratitude and loyalty of people living with epilepsy, their families, friends, and caregivers and celebrate their lives.
